The University Grants Commission (UGC) has given the National Testing Agency (NTA) the responsibility of conducting UGC-NET, a test designed to determine an Indian citizen's eligibility for the positions of "Assistant Professor" and "Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor" in Indian universities and colleges. The UGC-NET exam is given twice a year. The June 2022 UGC-NET schedule has been delayed as a result of the cancellation of the December 2021 UGC-NET due to COVID-19. The National Testing Agency (NTA), with the approval of UGC, has combined both the UGC-NET of December 2021 and June 2022 (merged cycles), so that they may be administered concurrently in CBT Mode. This has been done in order to regularise the UGC-NET Examination cycles. A UGC NET qualified applicant may instruct NTA UGC NET candidates in person or online. On the basis of the National Eligibility Test, candidates who pass are qualified for the positions of Assistant Professor or Junior Research Fellow and Assistant Professor. The exam lasts for three hours.
