In India, applicants to graduation and postgraduate medical programmes as well as dental programmes at government or private medical and dental institutes must take the National Eligibility cum Admission Test, formerly known as the All India Pre-Medical Test. Nowadays, the National Testing Agency administers the undergraduate NEET for MBBS and BDS programmes, and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare's Directorate General of Health Services receives the results. For the combined Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology portions of the qualifying examination, candidates who are members of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, or Other Backward Classes will receive 40% of the available points, compared to 50% for Unreserved Applicants.
